About Bill
Bill Shelton is an Associate Certificated Coach credentialed by ICF. He is also a facilitator and consultant. His motto, “Together We Will” is a testament to how he approaches life as a collaborative partner to all. He is a native of Kentucky where he earned a BA degree in History & Government from WKU and a law degree from UK. He holds an LL. M. in Labor Law from Georgetown.
After graduating from law school, he maintained a private practice in criminal defense work in Kentucky for 13 years. He left his home state and served 20 years as a Coast Guard JAG officer, retiring in 2007. After retiring from the military, he entered a practice in criminal defense work for 15 years in Maryland. After 48 years of practicing law either as a civilian or military attorney, he recently closed his law office in November of 2022. He
plans to devote more time to coaching, consulting, and facilitating. He has been actively coaching since he finished the coaching program at Georgetown in 2020.
Bill devotes most of his time to Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and peace building. He earned an MS degree in Conflict summa cum laude from GMU. Consistent with his desire to be a peacemaker, he is a trained mediator, and he has been mediating for more than a decade. He is recognized as a Professional Registered Parliamentarian (PRP) by the National Association of Parliamentarians, and he is thoroughly familiar with Robert’s Rules of Order. As a PRP, he assists individuals and organizations to conduct their business according to Robert’s.
Bill is father, husband and mentor to many. He holds two certificates from Georgetown, one in Leadership Coaching and the other in Facilitation. He also has a certificate in Biblical Studies from the Ecumenical Institute at St. Mary’s Seminary and University.
